SUMMARY:Review: Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Lauren Townsend \n“Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action” is a fun and engaging way to get your kids moving. A series of eight stations\, including Kung Fu Forest\, Climbing Canyon\, Surfing and Snowboarding\, and Action Star Training challenge kids of all ages and physical abilities. Inside the exhibit\, we picked up an action tracker sheet so we could stamp each station as we went. \n \n\n \n\n \n \nMy 5-year-old\, Cricket\, loved pretending to surf and snowboard on the motion-sensor activated boards. She also kept returning to Flycycle Sky because pedaling the stationary bike lights up a star board. \nI’ve sometimes wondered if my 9-year-old\, Peyton\, is getting too old for the Children’s Museum\, but she said that “Run! Jump! Fly!” was her “favorite exhibit ever!” Peyton loves to compete in challenge races\, so the strength station was her favorite. It challenges balance\, strength and muscular endurance with activities like rowing and monkey bars. This exhibit does a wonderful job of combining imaginative\, interactive play with physical activity. My kids were enthusiastic about getting involved in each station. \nKnow Before You Go: Admission costs vary; save money by buying tickets online. Ticket prices during non-peak days are less expensive. Parking is about $10 in the garage across the street. There is construction scaffolding outside the museum\, but it’s still open during normal hours. The museum is closed on Wednesdays. As a parent\, I love that I can bring in my own snacks or food to eat in the designated area. After all the running and jumping\, I would suggest packing a light snack or even a full box lunch. \n– Lauren Townsend \nExplore kung fu\, surfing\, snowboarding\, yoga and climbing. Test ability\, and build strength\, coordination\, balance and more. Through May 27. Mon.- Fri. 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed Wed.; Sat.- Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. $15.95-$18.95; younger than 1\, free.

SUMMARY:Last Chance--Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Toddlers and preschoolers have another reason to love the Children’s Museum of Atlanta – “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: a Grrr-ific Exhibit!\,” based on the popular animated television series on PBS Kids. \n \n\n \n\n \n \nThe exhibit transforms a section of the museum into Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Children are invited to explore the area\, and engage\, interact and perhaps pretend they live in the 4-year-old tiger’s neighborhood. The show’s theme songs play in that area\, and Daniel himself visits the museum (at designated times). \nIn the “neighborhood\,” kids can mail letters at the post office\, climb in cars and drive around the town\, play with the clock tower\, build their own neighborhood in a block area\, dress up as characters in the show\, play instruments\, read books and create stories\, among many other activities. \n“They love all of it\,” said Karen Kelly\, director of education and exhibits for the museum. “We have seen children happily sitting on the floor building their own neighborhood with neighborhood blocks\, dancing and singing to the radio songs and making clocks. \nNot only does the museum play songs from the show in the exhibit area\, but the museum’s live theatre performances focus on themes familiar to the show\, such as working together\, friendship and kindness. \nThese are all key learning goals for the Daniel Tiger show\, Kelly said. “The songs from the show … are great catchy tunes that also help children create coping skills for challenges\,” she said. The lessons learned in the exhibition have staying power and will be with the children and their families after the exhibition leaves.” \n\n\n\n\n– Kristy MacKaben \n\n\n\n\nStep into Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood\, where Daniel and his friends help children navigate their world. Play\, sing\, explore and pretend in some favorite and familiar places from the Neighborhood. Through Jan. 6. Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed Wed.; Sat.- Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. $15.95-$18.95; younger than 1\, free.

SUMMARY:Review: The Amazing Castle at Children's Museum of Atlanta
DESCRIPTION:Image Credit | Alexas German \nThe Amazing Castle exhibit transports into a time where every job in a community served a royal purpose. \n \n\n \n\n \n \nChildren can dress in regal attire as they wander through the beautiful village hidden beyond the castle’s stone walls. The Great Hall and Garden\, The Royal Workshop and The Dragon tower are just a few of the many places to explore. \nThe castle walls ring with laughter as kids cook a meal fit for a king or wake Herald\, the sleeping dragon. They can pick vegetables from the castle garden\, try their hand at making or repairing clothing\, do carpentry or blacksmith work\, or take part in the puppet theater. Kids also can create a crown or goblet in the craft class offered every 30 minutes. \nStorytime is right outside the castle walls and incorporates this attraction. With so many hands-on activities\, this exhibit creates an opportunity for your children to meet new friends and work together to help the town run smoothly. My kids\, Bailey and Joshua\, loved the costumes and role-playing in the castle kitchen and gardens. We spent about two hours at the Museum this time. \nWhen you go\, pack a lunch and plan to stay longer – explore the castle\, then everything else the Museum has to offer\, including shows and crafts. \n– Alexas German \nChildren can don costumes role-play\, pick vegetables or visit the tower to wake the sleeping dragon. Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. $15.95-$18.95; younger than 1\, free.
